Three Opportunities

1 - OPPORTUNITIES FOR DWELLING IN THE WORD:

In the book The Shape of Faith to Come Bruce Waggoner states that the findings of significant research have shown that the number one behavior most correlated to spiritual maturity is reading the Bible. He writes, "Make sure people are constantly being taught to read and study the Bible. Refuse to fall prey to the temptation to think that sermons and Bible studies, as important as they are, replace private devotion."

2- OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPIRITUAL FRIENDSHIP:

 “Anyone without a soul friend is like body without a head.” -  Old Celtic Saying (Soul Friend)

Missio Lux will provide assistance as needed with establishing groups of two to four people:

            (Contact LaurieB@MissioLux.org  or Tamara@MissioLux.org)

            Structure of the groups can vary widely, but should:

                        be of one gender;

                        meet at least two times a month or more;

                        provide for confidential discussion, prayer and relationship with one another;

                        and include content that helps each person discover how to live Jesus’ lifestyle.

            Missio Lux will make resources available as needed, including:

                        accountability and discussion questions ;

                        personality, strengths and gifts inventories;

                        and Life Shape assessments.

Missio Lux will have appropriate opportunities for you to communicate regarding how your spiritual friendships are developing.

3- OPPORTUNITIES TO CONNECT WITH GOD THROUGH YOUR SPIRITUAL PATHWAYS

You have your own “style” or preferred ways of connecting with God, this is referred to as your spiritual pathway.

Discover your Spiritual Pathway and the Spiritual Disciplines that fit your style.

Identify your preferred spiritual pathway through completing an online assessment (Spiritual Pathway Assessment Quiz:  www.common.northpoint.org/sacredpathway.html).

Learn about your pathway through reviewing the study guide (Understanding Your Spiritual Pathway Study Guide:  www.zondervan.com/m/garythomas/SacredPathways.pdf).

Identify practices and/or spiritual disciplines that relate to your pathway and establish them as part of your lifestyle.

As the year progresses, Missio Lux will be making available additional resources of spiritual disciplines and opportunities related to your preferred pathway through the website, life equipping training and community assessments.  We hope that you will add your own ideas and findings to this collection of resources.   (Please email them to: LaurieB@MissioLux.org)
